As you can imagine, I’m on an apologetics “high” right now, since I was recently at an AiG conference. I read the following article the other day:

It’s long, but does an excellent job of scientifically proving evolution to be false.

Since you’re on an apologetics high, have you ever read Van Til’s A Christian Theory of Knowledge? It changed the entire way I interact with the subject.
I can’t recall the content of it if I have, but the name sounds awfully familiar! I’ll have to find it and read it! Thank you for the suggestion.
Ah — here’s why it’s probably familiar to you: You’ve no doubt heard of Doug Phillips, president of Vision Forum. When he was a student, he was such a fan of R. J. Rushdoony (father-in-law of Gary North) that he would show up for classes with the textbook for the class, a Bible, and a copy of R. J. Rushdoony’s Institutes of Biblical Law. R. J. Rushdoony, in turn, was the father of Christian Reconstructionism, which is a legal extension of Cornelius Van Til’s epistemological ideas. So there you have it — a small family tree of the Christian right wing.
Yup, I’ve met of Mr. Phillips. For some reason when you mentioned Christian Theory of Knowledge, I thought it was something I’d heard from Vision Forum or americanvision.org, then I thought “Naah, can’t recall seeing that in either catalog or blog….but it sounds Rushdoonyish. Oh well.” And now your comment makes a lot of sense.
Thank you very much!
You may also have heard of it from American Vision. American Vision’s Joel McDurmon is the son-in-law of Gary North, which makes him the son-in-law of the son-in-law of the extender of Cornelius Van Til’s thought. Or, to trace the connection through another route, American Vision’s president Gary DeMar is the co-author with Gary North of at least one book. At a high enough level, the major culture warriors all seem to know each other.
Ah, Gary North… everyone leads back to Gary North in some odd way or another.
Haha, yes, it does seem they all know each other! Someone should make a genealogy! “And so-and-so’s wisdom begat so-and-so’s book, so-and-so’s book begat the such-and-such movement, which begat so-and-so’s ideas…” They all go to the same culture warrior-celebrity-parties and we eagerly read about their conversations and adventures via the blog-o-sphere and bimonthly publications…unlike People, this information is worthwhile.
I’ve got the bare outlines of a genealogy of them, but I haven’t polished it into postable form yet. Perhaps I should get on that.
Haha, wow!
